Origami Radness: Ross Symons

I’ve been trawling for cool people to follow on Instagram, and yesterday ‘Ross Symons’ came up in my recommended page.

He’s an origami enthusiast who turned it into a career, and this year he decided to fold a different piece every day. You can follow his project on Instagram – White On Rice.

He also has a beautifully simple site showcasing his custom work, which you can also request. Love finding uniquely talented South Africans!

One of his best known custom jobs was with the exceptional team from Wonderland Collective (who designed my logo on this here page) for the Bacon Pop-Up Bar.

I was asked to fold 250 origami pigs for their launch in June 2014. They wanted an origami Pig Curtain for one of the windows. Each Pig was folded from a 15x15cm square sheet of pink paper.

His 365 Days of Origami is his main project right now.

It taught me patience, planning and that if you want to get better at something quickly, do it everyday for a year. It was during this project that I started designing my own figures and shapes.
