I’m not a fashion blogger by ANY means (and I’m not planning on going in that direction). Fashion – as a form of design – always piques my interest though, as it’s either forming new trends in design as a whole or mirroring the new direction art is taking. And let’s be honest with each other here – us gals seldom leave a shopping trip without something new, but it’s not that often that we are completely wowed. Which is why my most recent weekend on Pinterest has me so giddy. (Yes, that’s how I spend my Saturday mornings. Bite me bicyclists.)
The ‘recommended’ function on Pinterest is probably the simplest yet cleverest thing the visual site has done since it started. It is spot on 90% of the time, 5% kinda and 5% wtf.
It is through that function that Pinterest introduced me to Hazel Cox:
I might not be the trendiest dresser, but accessories I know. And fringing? Put fringe on ANYTHING and I’ll probably buy it. So large, silk fringed earrings with bronze settings, uniquely made in unusual shades? I MEAN. Give me. Naturally, I popped straight over to her site to get an idea of cost – very pricey because of the customisation and handmade element. Along with SA shipping costs it’s not an option at this moment – but the next friend who’s in the States is bringing these back for me.
I’m a bit of a bohemian gal – in every sense of the phrase: a bit. I love the loose, wavy movement of the aesthetic and the patterns that go along. But I’m also not going to forsake my shoes for flower thongs and hair jewellery. And there’s a wonderfully contemporary take on la bohemé right now that I’m thoroughly enjoying. Will also go perfectly with my dream earrings up there.
